PHILIPPINE HISTORY ROOTS AND DEVELOPMENT
History is the story of mankind’s past. It systematically records and explains what people have thought, said and done. History concerned with political, economic and social matters. Political matters are those pertaining to government and Economic are those relating to agriculture, industry and trade while Social matters deals with everyday life and culture.
Description
The study of our history roots and development also deals with the physical environment which has a great impact on the country’s history as well as an effect on the country’s future development. By tracing the beginnings of the Filipino people, this will describe in detail the multiplicity of roots and multifaceted cultural heritage and by recognizing our roots, this will led to develop within us a deep sense of nationhood and national identity.
The study of the past helps us to understand the present. No one, for instance, can understand the catholic of today, the recent problems of Muslim rebels without knowing the history of the church and the countries involved. The perpetual social unrest in our country become clearer if the foundations of government are well understood. The social problems of poverty, prosperity, and distribution of goods will be found duplicated in many parts of the country even up to this time.
It is true that many parts of history are uncertain or unknown. Many parts, however, are clear; and history has the advantage of presenting the connected story of the rise and fall of our people and of the whole population of our nation. Knowledge of history also makes the reading of books, newspapers, and magazine more interesting, increases the number of ideas that flow from reading, and makes it easier to judge the truth of what is read.
History gives the student a greater tolerance for the opinions of others. It teaches how easily men have been deceived in the past and how many errors have stood against the truth.

In studying our Philippine History, student will learn about the challenges and achievements of people throughout the country in different periods of time. The pleasure and satisfaction will be gained from examining three amazing records.

The more knowledge will be gained of the past the more insight will have into the present. Links between the past and the present are all around us. It helps us understand ourselves and the world in which we live.

Knowledge in Philippine History will give us an even greater appreciation of our heritage, knowledge of other people and other cultures will give a better perspective of the present times and also understanding of the past will enhance the ability to evaluate and deal effectively with concerns of the present times. These can be summarized into the following:

Learn about the past
Understand the present
Prepare for the future
Appreciate our heritage
Broaden our perspective
Acquire background for critical thinking
