Reading is Delicious - K-5 Summer Reading at Highland Park Public Library
Transcript of Reading is Delicious - K-5 Summer Reading at Highland Park Public Library
Highland Park Public Library The ants go marching two by two HURRAH! HURRAH! The ants go marching two by two HURRAH! HURRAH! Back to the ant hill ahead of you! And we all go marching all around the ground! Ahhh, it's almost summer. Picnic season should be starting soon! Remember the old days, when we had to risk so many explorer ants to find food? Yeah! Thank GOODNESS for modern technology.
ANTONY? Can you hear me, Antony? Where are you? OK, Antony. Head inside. WOAH! WOAH!
ANTONY, LOOK OUT! Do you see anything yummy? Great! Picnic baskets have lots of food in them. What a brave ant! WHAT?! Why would the library have a basket full of plastic food? LOOK OUT, ANTONY!! PHEW! Close one. So, gerbil, why is there plastic food at the library?
...oh, I see.
He says his name is Lancelot. Lancelot says Reading is Delicious is the Summer Reading program at the Highland Park Public Library. You sign up online, read books or
e-books, then come in and talk to a librarian about the book. Then you get to reach into the picnic basket... I LOVE PICNIC BASKETS! As I was saying.
You reach into the picnic basket.... and draw a piece of plastic food. YUCK! And you trade the piece of food for tokens. Why would anyone want those? Lancelot says kids can trade in their tokens for prizes. Where's the yummy stuff? Merlin says kids can trade in their tokens for prizes. Where's the yummy stuff? What's that, Lance?
Reading is Delicious is also an online program? But we can't march back and forth to the library to participate...we might get squished! You can sign up and do all your reports online just by going to the library's website. OK! Good scouting, Antony. Thanks for the info! Wait! Lance says there's more! Hooray!
Let's start now! You'll have to wait until June 4th. That's when the program starts. Remember, it ends on July 28!
