Spoon River Anthology
was his most notable work.
Modernism began around the late nineteenth and early twentith centuries in Europe and North America. It is characteried by a break with traditional styles of poetry and verse. The modernists experimented with form and expression.

Robert Lee Frost was a poet. He work was first published in England before it was published in America. He is known for his realistic protrayal of rural life and speech.
Hemingway was an author and journalist. He had a strong influence in twentith century fiction. It also influence later generations. Ernest won the nobel prize in Literature in 1954.
William Faulkner was an American writer and won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
