(how many degrees of freedom or flexible joints does it have)? The three Snakebots stated above are not used in many situations. The Snakebot invented by SINTEF Is used in or around fires. The medical Snakebot is used in hospitals. The NASA Snakebot is used in space
The Snakebot has many moving joints, but it all depends on how long the snakebot is. 4. How is the robot taught to perform its task? It was not taught how to preform its tasks. It was programmed with all the information it needed. It was programmed to move like a real animal. In this case the animal was the snake. 5.What sensors does the robot have and how
does the robot use these sensors? 6.Name some advantages and disadvantages
of using a robot to complete this task. The medical snakebot has made a big impact in the medical field. It helps detect tumors cheaper and easier than a CT scan. The SINTEF robot has not made an average impact in the fire fighting field. The NASA snakebot has made a huge impact on the space field. It helps explore space. 9.Predict and explain how this robot may be
altered to perform more or different tasks in the future. The creators are thinking about altering it to make it a toy for older children. They have also though about adding more links to the snakebot to make it more maneuverable and easier to control.
There are 3 main types of snakebot. The first one is the SINTEF snakebot. It helps with fires. The second is the medical snakebot. It menouvers around organs and helps detect tumors. The last and most known is the NASA snakebot. The NASA snakebot is sent up into space and it explores and takes pictures. 3.Is the robotic end effector multi-functional?
If so, what other tasks can it perform? No. The only things they are used for have already been stated. Those are, to go through fires, and to help in the medical field, but NASA's snakebot explores and also takes photos. 8.What type of jobs/careers can this robot
create to provide employment for people? We could not find any jobs that these robots provide. They actually eliminate some jobs. The SINTEF robot eliminates firefighting jobs. The NASA snakebot does not eliminate jobs, but it does not provide any either. In most models, strain sensors have added to the robot's metal-rib frame. These sensors indicate if the snake is in contact with anything, where it's touching it and how hard the contact is. It has many more degrees of freedom to move than the average robot. It can get into places others can’t. Its programmed animal behavior can malfunction at times. 7. Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have on its intended audience. 10. How much do snakebots cost? Unlike many robots, the snakebot is not very costly. Snakebots cost only a few hundred dollars each.
