Architecture Through the Years
1920's-2010
By Jordan Dombrowski In the 1920's the House Style
was called the International Style.
This style had a flat roof with a garden.
The International Style also consisted of geometric shapes. The 1930's house style was called the Tudorbethan Style. This house was made of red brick and pebbledash. There was also herringbone brickwork and tile-hung walls. In the '40's houses had one or two floors and had a garage. The living rooms, and terrace were all on the second floor. In the 1950's and 1960's Ranch Style homes were the thing everyone wanted to live in. Ranch houses were not very decorated and the house had a very casual living style. In the 70's the houses were a lot bigger. People had a garden space and a place to park their cars. In the 1980's in homes there was at least one fireplace, a dining room, a two car garage, a landscaped yard, and a turnaround driveway. In the 1990's the houses had 1 story, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, and a 2 car garage. House's in 2000 and 2010 were very modern. Houses now can be built the way you would want your house to look like.
