Transcript of The Lord's Prayer: Part 5

Our Problem is Our Heart
Not Dealing
With Our Problem
How does refusing to own our heart problem paralyze change?
Reminded Every Day that
"I am my biggest problem"
Examination by the Word:
Finding some Bad Guys
We have to find a way to show that we are better. We need bad guys to make ourselves the good guy.
Ruining our Relationships
We excuse our behavior by faulting other people, our circumstances, or our environment
Looking to Christ
James 1:23-24

"23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like"
Comparative Thinking
Personal Ownership
I need the daily reminder of where my biggest problem lies . . . and where I can find true hope.
The Lord's Prayer: Part 5
I am my biggest problem
My Biggest Problem: My Heart
My Source of Hope: Christ
"And lead me not into temptation but deliver me from evil"
We see the sins of others clearer and more pronounced than our own sins
We refuse to humble ourselves and repent of our sins
James 3:11-12

"11 Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water"
Why should I say that I am wrong, how does that help me?
If we persist in believing we are one of the good guys, how will we relate to those around us?
Psalm 139:23-24
Hebrews 4:12-13
