Introduction
Date palm, is a monocotyledonous, dioecious palm, and is considered the most important fruit tree in many Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

In addition to its value in fruit production, it is also one of the main trees used for ornamentals and landscape purposes.

Date palm can be propagated by seeds,
Offshoots
and Tissue culture.

First study: Effect of exogenous indole butyric acid (IBA) on root formation.

Second study: Improving Root Development on Ground and Aerial Date Palm Offshoot by changing media.

Third study: Rooting of offshoots by ISOPROTHIOLANE (IPT) .

Fourth study: Rooting of offshoots by 1-Naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA).

Fifth study: Effect of IAA,IBA and NAA rooting hormones on rooting percentage.

First study: Effect of indole butyric acid (IBA) on root formation.
Isoprothiolane (diisopropyl-1, 3-dithiolan-2-ylidenemalonate, IPT) is a fungicide (12% hormone, 126 IPT).
Forth study: Rooting of offshoots by Naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA)
Fifth study: Effect of IAA,IBA and NAA rooting hormones on rooting percentage:
sixth study: Rooting of offshoots by injection IBA with NPK.
Three independent experiments are going on Date Palm Propagation by offshoots at Nakheel Palestine Farm during the season 2015.
First experiment: Rooting of aerial offshoots of date palm cv. Medjool by using different colors of polyethylene bags.
Experimental design: RCBD
Plot size: Two aerial offshoots .
Number of replications: Four
Number of treatments: Eight.
The treatments are:

Second experiment: Effect of some rooting medium on propagation of aerial date Palm offshoots cv. Medjool:
Experimental design: RCBD
Plot size: Two aerial offshoots .

The treatments are:

2. Organic matter 100%
3. Organic matter + Soil + Sand
4. Peatmoss+ Vermiculite
5. Soil + Toff
6. Sand + Toff
7. Organic matter + Toff
8. Peatmoss + Toff
Third experiment: Effect of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) on rooting of aerial date Palm offshoots cv. Medjool :
Experimental design: RCBD
Plot size: Two aerial offshoots .
Number of replications: Four
Number of treatments: Four.
The treatments are:
1.Control
2. Treatment with IBA only at the beginning of layering
3. Treatment with IBA through irrigation water
4. Treatment with IBA only at the beginning of layering +Treatment with IBA through irrigation water
Observations of the 3 experiments:

1. The number main roots
2. The length of the longest root
3. Diameter of thickest root
4. The rooting zone
5. Offshoots weight
6. Length of shoot
7. The total number of leaves
8. The length of the stem of offshoot

layering is more widely followed in Jericho and Jordan Valley as compared to
ground offshoots.

is extensively used as rooting medium in aerial layering of date palm offshoots.
4. Some
organic rooting medium
and
root promoting substances
have high promising potential as
alternative substrates to sawdust
.
