What is a goal?
A goal is something you want to achieve or accomplish.
Have you ever set a goal? Did you accomplish that goal?
Long-Term & Short-Term Goals
A long-term goal may be:
That you want to get married one day.
That you want to buy a car.
That you want to go to college.
A short-term goal may be:
That you are going to finish a project for school.
That you are going to pass a test.
That you are going to make the cheerleading or football team.
Make Your Goals Realistic
When you set goals for yourself, make sure that are goals you can reach. If you make them too hard to reach, it will make you discouraged, but if they are too easy, you may not even care to reach it anymore.
To be realistic, your goals should be:
Specific - make sure you are clear about your goal so you stay on track!
Challenging - push yourself to achieve your goal, but don't be too hard on yourself!
Active - make sure you do something every day to work towards your goal.
Thought-out - think of problems or obstacles that could get in your way and create ways to handle them if/when they come up.
Flexible - even if you plan for something unexpected to happen, it can still be discouraging when they do. Make sure you stay flexible, and don't let things get you down!
Always keep a positive attitude! It will help you do your
best and keep you focused on your goals.
Make sure you put important tasks first! Do not put things off because you do not want to do them. Just do your best and complete the important tasks so you can focus on your goals.
Sometimes you have to give up hanging out with your friends or watching youtube in order to focus on your goals! Remember how good you will feel when you've reached those goals!
Success allows you to feel good about yourself. It helps you grow and develop during your teen years and will continue the rest of your life. It is amazing to see how much you can accomplish when you set goals and word to accomplish those goals.
Sometimes you may feel discouraged or disappointed and your goal will feel like it is impossible to reach. Remember to keep your goals realistic and try to figure out what is going wrong.
