Transcript of Graphs

GRAPHS BAR GRAPH
Shows the number of items in specific categories; compares categories. LINE GRAPH Shows change over
a period of time LINE PLOT Shows how many times each
number occurs in the data
CIRCLE GRAPH
Represents 100% and compares parts of a whole. The circle represents
the whole (100%) and is separated into parts. STEM-AND-LEAF PLOT
Lists all individual numbers in a condensed form. Multiplying the decimal number times 360 gives us the angle measure of each part of the graph. Calculate the percentage COLOR SURVEY

SURVEY: a sampling, or partial collection, of facts, figures, or opinions taken and used to approximate or indicate what a complete collection and analysis might reveal. Example: The survey revealed the percentage of the students who wanted red shirts.

The Study Labs are ordering t-shirts to wear to field trips, but they can order only one color for all of the Labs. The store usually sells the t-shirts for $10 each, but is having a sale for 20% off on three colors. Circle your choice first and don’t change your mind. Then take a survey in your Study Lab to determine what color your Study Lab prefers.
Circle your choice: RED BLUE GREEN

TALLY: TOTALS

RED____________________________________________________________

BLUE___________________________________________________________

GREEN__________________________________________________________

TOTAL SHIRTS:________

Determine the ratio of each color to the total number of students in your Study Lab.

Calculate the decimal and percentage.
What's wrong with this graph? What is mean, median, mode, and range? Estimate the number of visitors who enjoyed each activity. What is the mean, medium, mode, and range? What kind of graph would best represent this survey's results? Bar, Line, Line Plot, Stem-and-Leaf, or circle? Usually, the x-axis has numbers for the time period, and the y-axis has numbers for what is being measured. Line graphs can be used when you're plotting data that has peaks (ups) and valleys (downs) What is the trend (pattern) in this graph? SCATTER PLOT
A graph of plotted points that show the relationship between two sets of data. OUTLIER? http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/mesg/html/math6web/index.html?page=home http://www.moelkhatib.com
