Changes in Matter
Chemical and Physical Changes
Physical Changes: a change in form or state, but not substance. The substance remains the same before and after the change. No new substance is formed.
Physical Changes Involve changes in:

1) State of matter
2) Texture
3) Shape
4) Size
5) Volume
6) Mass
7) Density
Chemical Change: When a substance changes into one or more new substances with different properties. A new substance is made.
Characteristics of Chemical Changes:

1) Irreversible (usually)
2) New substances are formed (ex. gas or solid)
3) New set of properties (ex. colour change)
4) Energy change. (ex. heat and light are given off)
