ESTRUCTURA DE SIMPLE PAST
Afirmativo. Personal pronoun + verb in past + complement
Ejemplo: I played soccer.

Negativo. Personal pronoun + aux+not/did not o didn't + verb in simple form + complement
Ejemplo: I didn't see a good movie.

Interrogativo. Aux. pasado + personal pronoun + verb in simple form + complement
Ejemplo: Did you see a good movie?
DEFINICIÓN
simple past

Se utiliza para referirse a acciones que se desarrollaron en el pasado y que hace ya algún tiempo que finalizaron.
En la formación del tiempo pasado hay que distinguir entre verbos regulares e irregulares. Para los verbos regulares se les agrega "ed", pero en caso de que el verbo termine en "y" se le cambia la "y" por "i"+ed, y para los irregulares no se aplica esto, hay que estudiarlos individualmente.
Por ejemplo: Verbos regulares. listen/listened , study/studied
Verbo irregular. go/went
RECUERDA
* En las frases negativas e interrogativas, siempre se debe utilizar el infinitivo del verbo sin to.
She didn´t phone her
No se puede decir: She didn´t phoned her.
Did you study yesterday?
No se puede decir: Did you studied yesterday?
* En las preguntas que contienen partículas interrogativas (what, when, who, why, where), estas se colocan delante del auxiliar did.
Where did you go?
Who did he visit?
USOS
El pasado simple se utiliza para hablar de acciones que sucedieron en un momento concreto del pasado. En estas frases aparecen expresiones de tiempo tales como yesterday (ayer), last week (la semana pasada), last night (anoche), etc.

I played football last Saturday. We went shopping yesterday.
