Beijing! Beijing located in northern China, it is
the second largest city in China after
Shanghai by urban population. Beijing is the capital and it is the cultural
center of China. Also, Beijing is one of the
most populous cities in the world. It has a population
of approximately 19 millions (2010). In 2008, the birth
rate of Beijing is 13.71/per 1,000 people; and the death
rate is 7.03/per 1,000 people. 10,585 km from Canada 13 hrs of light time Culture Beijing opera is a traditional form of Chinese theater well known throughout the nation. Commonly lauded as one of the highest achievements of Chinese culture. Beijing opera is performed through a combination of song, spoken dialogue, and codified action sequences involving gestures, movement, fighting and acrobatics. Much of Beijing opera is carried out in an archaic stage dialect quite different from Modern Standard Chinese. China located in Southeast Asia along the coastline
of the Pacific Ocean, China is the world's third
largest country, after Russia and Canada. With an area
of 9.6 million km² and a coastline of 18 thousand km; the city
Beijing have an area of 16 thousand km². China is bordered by 14 countries --
Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, India,
Bhutan, Nepal,Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan,
Mongolia, and Russia. Major Exports Economy China's major exports are: petroleum, coals, rice, wheat, apparel & clothing. China’s largest exports markets are European Union, United States, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. From 1990 until 2012, China Exports averaged 50.3 Billion USD
reaching an all time high of 186.4 Billion USD in September of
2012 and a record low of 2.8 Billion USD in January of 1990.
Export growth has continued to be a major component supporting
China's rapid economic growth. Demographics In 2007, the literacy rate of male in China is 96%, for
female, it is 88.5%, and the
over all literacy rate in Beijing, China is 92.2%. Major Festivals Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional chinese holidays, the new years were perhaps the most elaborate, colorful, and important. This is a big celebration for the Chinese to congratulate each other and themselves on having passed through another year. A time to finish out the old, and to welcome in the new year. The festival begins on the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar and ends with Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day. In China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decorations, materials, food, and clothing. It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly clean the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red coloured paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes like "good fortune" , "happiness", or"wealth".
