Our Friends and Partners
This was the best interactive presentation ever experienced in my 40+ years as a teacher. Every aspect was bang on. The students could not stop talking about it and were kind and thoughtful to each other to the extent that all teachers were talking about it today (2 days later) at our PD

I don't know if you can tell michelle this for me but it would mean a lot!
The day Live Different came to Fredericton High School... I had a gun in my room, and i was going to kill myself after school before my grandmother got home... Michelle was sort of in my situation, you know losing a parent. well yeah she might not remember me but i just wanted to tell her thank you. and i'd like to keep in touch with her.

“Live Different is THE best and most relevant presentation schools can offer to students today. The message of needing to connect and reach out is presented in such a fun and powerful way, that it left our students wanting to give back and encouraged them to seek help from others. My room was never so busy with students reaching out!”

About Live Different
Live Different is the premier organization in Canada for providing a global humanitarian experience for high school students. I have now completed four of these journeys and I continue to be blown away by every aspect of the process. The leaders are tremendous and the life lessons are far beyond anything that can be achieved in a normal high school setting.

As a teacher in a First Nations school I have had a long time belief that in order to create global citizens regardless of ability or disability one needs to go beyond their borders of the classroom, school and community. This build was a pilot project to prove that we are all change makers and that as Mi'kmaq it is better to give than receive. As we walk on Mother Earth we must always be mindful to give more than receive and not to take more than we need. Live Different teaches that basic fundament in all aspects of their program. On behalf of Eskasoni Mi'kmaq team from the the bottom of our hearts Wela'lioq *thank you all!

"When it comes to how our children will be attached to us, having difficult experiences early in life is less important than whether we've found a way to make sense of how those experiences have affected us." Dr. Daniel Siegel
"Live different has changed the way I look at myself and see that am not the only one fighting the battle I'm fighting and now I don't feel so alone."

(The teachers) noticed huge changes in the students, especially those who had experienced loss before going. Many of the students had lost close relatives and important people in their lives over the year leading up to the trip... As they spent time working with the family to build their home, they began to express joy for the first time in many months. It was described as if they “found their smile again.”

They noticed a huge boost in the confidence level of the group. The students believe in themselves now and have such a strong desire to make changes in their lives and communities.

“This changed how I do things at home,” explained Jack Dennis... "Now I try to help my mom more... I never did that before.”
