Education Experts: "Video-games corrupt the brain!" Media: "Video-games make our youth violent, aggressive, and anti-social!" Scientists/Psychologists: "Video-games have the potential to teach players high-level thinking skills that they will need in the future." •Interactive Violence - player is rewarded for violence, vengeance, and aggression. No peaceful solutions meaning that players can be taught wrong values. •Confusion between reality and fantasy. •Less time for other activities (school, friends, sports) potentially leading to addiction, depression, social isolation, impulsive behaviour, attention problems, obesity and other health problems •Introduced to computers and online world, more familiar with technology •Bonding activity (socialize and encouraged teamwork!) •Learning elements (fun, rewarding. Colours, animation, interactivity) - Focus and concentration •Creativity, and faster decision making speeds (ability to pay attention to multiple things at once) •Boost self-confidence and self-esteem. Adjustable difficulties in games allow skills to be developed. Encourages exploration, and to take risks. •Relieve stress, vent frustration and anger. •Playing video-games is safe, as long as they are played in moderation and they are suitable for the player •Behaviour should be monitored - stop player from playing video-games if he/she becomes aggressive through playing •Choose video-games that are suitable for the player. Information about the video-game is usually revealed on it's box or on reviews and videos on the internet.
