How do students demonstrate understanding?
What if I use Video Production instead?
How can I incorporate Digital Storytelling in my classroom to demonstrate understanding?
Video can be used to engage learning with a hands on project that tests skill, understanding and uses writing as a reflective tool.
Students worked in collaborative groups to write scripts using specific FCA's
Information for Videos organized in Checkthis and Livebinders to give students a one-stop shop for their scripts, while using other supplemental texts.
FCA's are Focused Correction Areas and used in Collin's Writing Strategies. The FCA's for this assignment were broken down between the content and production.
1. Explain concept
2. Explain how the artist uses the concept
3. Explain how a student can use the concept in their work
1. Video Images
Students selected their groups of 3-4 and were randomly assigned a topic organized in the Livebinder.
Students will create collaborative videos to communicate what they have learned and share it with others.
Students create images of their video as they correspond to their script. This allows students to plan for how they want to film their script and saves time by planning it out before recording.
Students film based on Storyboard and edit to meet their needs.
Once videos are done, students share their products with the class. Each video is discussed for content and production. Videos are used as a part of student's study materials for their Final Exam.
