Franco-Prussian war was in the 1800's. German states led by Prussia defeated France. The war marked the end of French leadership in continental Europe and resulted in the creation to combine Germany.
Guy De Maupassant is the author of
.He had published over 300 short stories , 6 novels and, three travel books.
Their are two long term best friends named Monsieur Morissot and Monsieur Sauvage. They liked to go on fishing trips together.There is a war going on called The Franco-Prussian war.They have gotten official passes to go fish on there island where the Prussian was and soon later was capture and killed and sent to the bottom of the river because they did not give the Prussian leader a password to get in Paris.

Chivalry: The two friends don't go against their country.
Enmity: Between the German Prussian and the France.Why else is there a war?
Foreshadowing: Lines 100-105 they are talking about running into the Prussians but later on they do run into them.
Conflict: Their is Sauvage , Morissot and between them and the Prussians.
