Cetus Cetus Neighbors Major Stars of Cetus Time Of Year Constellation Can Be Found How Cetus Looks Cetus Location Formation Of Stars There were many stars
Cetus has 14 stars with known planets
Major stars in cetus is
Beta Ceti- Brightest star in the constallation
Alpha Ceti- very old red giant star
Omicron Ceti- binary star consiting of red giant and companion star
Tau Ceti- cool glass Visible at latitudes between +70° and −90°. Viewed at October through January. However
Best visible at 21:00 (9 p.m.) during the month of November. Cetus a Sea monster or Whale has forefeet, about 5 to six feet high, has a huge jaws, and a scaly body like a giant sea serpent. Even though the constellation Cetus is also known as the Whale, to me this mythical creature in the depictions does not in fact look like a whale. Lambda, Mu, Xi, Nu, Gamma, and Alpha Ceti represented its head; Omicron, Zeta, and Chi Ceti represented its body; Eta Eri, Tau Cet, and Upsilon Cet marked its legs and feel; and Theta, Eta, and Beta Ceti delineated its tail. Cetus actually occurs in writing long before the Greeks, and some debate has insued over whether the sea monster was actually Draco, Hydra or Serpens. Cetus is sometimes drawn swimming in the river Eridanus, but is more often drawn resting on the banks of the river with its forepaws dipping into the river. Cetus can be found south of Pisces, the angular distance of Cetus from the galactic plane is about 75 degrees south and therefore quite close to the southern galactic pole.Cetus can also be easily found in the Autumn skies once one knows the locations of Pegasus, Aquarius and Pisces. Latin: Cetus (Cet)
English:Whale
Spanish:Ballena
German:Walfisch
French:Baleine Names By:Laice Baloush Arabic Predictiom According to the Arabs, one of the hands of the Pleiades (Al-Thurayya) extended into part of the constellation Cetus. Arabs also saw two pearl necklaces among the stars of Cetus. One pearl necklace was fully tied together and undamaged or brocken, however the other pearl necklace was broken and its pearls were scattered. Another generation of Arabs, like the ancient Hebrews and Greeks, portrayed an enormous Leviathan-like sea creature among the stars of Cetus. Stars such as cetus spend about 90% of their lifetime fusing hydrogen to produce helium in high-temperature and high-pressure reactions near the core Fact Cetus is the fourth largest constellation in the sky .With an area of 1,231 square degrees Cetus contains a couple of interesting deep sky objects like Messier 77 or NGC 1068 it has a magnitude 9 barred spiral galaxy located near delta Ceti, 47 million light-years away. Messier 77 NGC 1068 Omicron Ceti also known as Mira was the first variable star to be found in the night sky. It is a red giant approximately 420 light-years distant from Earth. Its maximum magnitude can reach 2.0, making it one of the brightest stars in the sky, and then drop to 10.1 Mira
