Which materials are the best conductors of electricity?
Transcript of Which materials are the best conductors of electricity?
Non conductors of electricity were:wax(candles),wood, rubberbands(any rubber products),plastics,an electrical tape. Terms and concepts Terms and concepts:know what the terms of electricity means.Such as:circuit, electrons, current etc... Questions How do electrons flow through different material?
How is resistance measured?
How can different materials be tested for conductivity? Brainstorming Results Realisation Sketches Run tests using different materials to see which ones conduct the most electricity History Of Electricity.
Experiment procedures:follow all safety guidelines and cautions. Bibliography:
Andythelwell.com/blobz/NCES.ed.gov/nceskiNCES.ed.gov/nceskids/createagraph In 1800, an Italian Named Alessandro Volta discovered the concept of an electrical circuit. He showed that electricity flows through a circuit and that a circuit needs to be complete or closed to work properly. He also invented the first battery, hence the term:volts or voltage. The next discovery was by a German named George Simon Ohm.In 1826, he discovered that some materials resisted the movement of electricity. The movement of electricity through a circuit is known as Ohm's law. This relates the voltage or V to the current or A to the resistance.Electricity flows well in some materials which are called conductors, while others are not which are called insulators. Terms and concepts:Electricity-a form of energy in positive and negative forms.
Circuit-the complete path of an electric current.
Current-the flow of electric charge.
Resistance-the opposition offered by a body or substance to the passage of steady current.
Conductor-material or object that allows electric current to flow freely.
Insulator-materials that are poor conductors of electricity.
1.If they are connected to each other.
2.Resistance is measured through Volts
3.To know what materials that electricity can go through. Conclusion
Electrical power is used throughout the world for many different purposes. But ,without the brainpower of a few men,we may never know if any electrical power would ever have been found. With a few good electrical test procedures,we are now able to do anything that requires electrical power. With more and more technological experiments being done everyday, other ways to generate power are being developed.Water, wind and solar panels are a few examples of experiments being tested.Overall, our planet is being run by the theories of Mr. Volta and Mr. Ohm today.
