Transcript of Overcoming Fear
& Analysis' What is fear? Fear is a distressing emotion
caused by the danger of
something or someone.
Fear, fear, fear your not my friend
Fear, fear, fear you are the end
Fear, fear, fear will you ever cease?
Fear will consume
Fear will kill
Because we kill out of fear
Fear is a killer
Fear tears us apart slowly and painfully
Fear will never cease
Because fear is unexpected
And fear will kill us all
But fear can be conquered
Only by brave souls Fear By: Montana Hohensee A heart pounding exaltation into realms of the unknown,
Paralzing dilemmas of insufferable images claimed as our own.
Things that should not be; yet still,
they are so.
In youth we are bold as our wisdom begins to grow.
At middle age our wisdom lets us know
Fear is something that will keep you alive
Fear has the power to kill, body and soul.
With wisdom and knowledge, we must remain in control
Praying to the creator thereby removing fears and woe. Overcoming Fear By: Howard Kern My Poems Time to forget, all those years
The passage of time, too many tears
Face to face, I shall conquer my fears
Years gone by, one day at a time
The hill was high, I had to climb
From time to time, I'd stumble a bit
I knew in my heart, I could do it
Tears gone by, one drop at a time
The hands of others, committing the crime
Too numerous to count, nor would I try
I had to tell, that life goodbye
Fears upon fears, I struggled through
Sometimes in a shell, I withdrew
Ambivalence was, the bigger part of me
Everything around, so hard to see
I will never forget, but try not to dwell
No longer ready, for deaths bell
I now have control, I am alive
The horrors of my past, I survived Years, Tears, and Fears By: Teresa L. Gryder Fear is something we do not spend much thought on.
It’s natural to feel the way we feel.
From birth to life, it’s drawn.
Our mind conceals what seems to be surreal. Paralyzing breezes, chill down my spine.
A fear which was mine for a tragic lifetime.
You can try to persevere and overcome your fear.
But remember my dear, do it for you. Afraid By: Muhammad Sohawon Because I was afraid when the lights dimmed out.
I was afraid when filled with doubt.
Everyone was running when the plane struck south.
Our fears control us and what we’re about. Fear, by Montana Hohensee, is a poem about fear and describes what fear essentially is. The simplicity of the language adds overall effect of the literary work. She uses metaphors when comparing fear with "consuming", "killer", and "unexpected". Additionally, the word fear is constantly repeated throughout the poem. The mood and author tone is dark and mysterious. Also, there is a rhetorical question when she asks "fear, fear, fear will you ever cease?" In my opinion, it seems as though Montana had fear in her life and decided to write a poem about herexperience with fear. Also, i think that she conquered fear because in the end, she mentions that only the brave can overcome fear. However, the main indea of this poem is that fear is a terrible trait to have and it can be overcome with courage. Overcoming Fear, by Howard Kern, personally caught my attention because it was very concise and powerful. In the beginning, he talks about fear of the unknown and destable images. Afterwards. he says that in our youth, we know not too much about fear and as we get older, we begin to develop our wisdom and have a greater sense of knowledge on fear. Also, fear has the ability to destroy our inner soul and body. Subsequestly, Howard says that in order remove fear, we must have wisdom, knowledge, and pray to god. One device of this poem is rhyming couplets. Also, "insufferable images" is an alliteration. It's written in first person. "...wisdom begins to grow" is a metaphor. All in all, I think the poem has bold features and attracting elements. Years, Tears, and Fears, by Teresa L. Gryder, spoke to me. The words successfully portrayed why she is such a great poet. I imagined her voice playing in my head while reading this work with an emotional tone with a sort of background power to it. The mood feels persevered and strong. Basically, she is talking about struggling to defeat her fears. In my mind, I imagined a girl climbing a mountain, conquering her fear of heights and reaching the top at the end of the poem. She uses rhyming well in the form of couplets. It is written in stanzas and also in first person. Fears is used repitively. Additionally, the poem formed imagery in my mind. There are metaphors like "I had to tell, that life goodbye" and "Ambivalence was, the bigger part of me".
The main point of the poem was that she overcame her fear through many hardships and struggles. A trail of mountains, he must climb.
Slow and steady, one step at a time.
To reach the top and soon be free.
Free of his sorrow and reluctance to live,
With a new motive he likes to call courage. In this fight, he will prevail!
Because if he doesn't, he will never prosper.
In this fight, he may scream and wail.
Blood, sweat and tears until he conquers. As he gets closer, he can see the peak.
The peak where he no longer will be weak.
All the years of being afraid.
His strength will never, ever fade. Now he's really close, but the track is getting tough.
He begins to doubt himself, and wonder if it is enough.
"Should I keep going or just draw back?"
Courage is what he needs to seal this crack.
So he continues along this rugged path,
and soon enough; "I've made it,
This is where i want to be!
To finally be free." You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.'
You must do the thing you think you cannot do. "
~ Eleanor Roosevelt "You cannot run away from weakness; you must some time fight it out or perish; and if that be so, why not now, and where you stand?"
~ Robert Louis Stevenson "Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it. "

Response The strength used to face ones fears derives from their heart. I think that if you need to conquer your fears, you need to have the required courage to do so. Courage is what one demonstrates throughout their journey when they withstand challenge and conflict with the strength. Although it is a difficult quality to gain, it is useful when fighting fears and proceeding through hardships. If I had stage fright, I'd practice my speech in front of small audiences and work my way up until i successfully overcome the fear. Practice is a very useful tool when attempting to face your fears. The five steps to overcome your fears will likely ensure a positive outcome. Living in fear will not be a good quality life. As Drake says, "you only live once", so why not live free and happy. You may believe that your fears are everlasting and impossible to vanquish, but you are not the only one. For example, when I was younger, I was scared of heights. I argued when they told me to climb a tree, ladder, or anything that would involve going off the ground into the air. But I practiced climbing a tree in my backyard about 4 times a week and slowly evolved away and I no longer was afraid. Courage is what you need in your life and pessimism will not get you there. The
