Task 2.3: Regulatory and Socio-economic Requirements
Task 2.4: Documenting Requirements
Task 5.6 Development of AIS-Integrated Chart System :
Designed a plotter based on ENC and EyeMap (1st, 2nd year)

Actual test for the plotter based on ENC at sea(3rd year, planned)
Added
simulating function
for Collision Analysis System
to optimize the parameters
- Determined
14 main parameters
for the collision analysis system based on the accident data
- Defined
5 parameters
to make some changes for the test (Blue)
Fuzzy Algorithm
Application of fuzzy algorithm using
DCPA/TCPA
Application of fuzzy algorithm using
ship’s encounter angles
Adjustment of fuzzy tables through
experts’ analysis
to improve the accuracy.
Simulated the AIS data
provided from
Turkey
and get a result of the optimized parameters
Simulating Data : 218 vessels to pass through the Bosporus Strait and Turkey coast,
2013-02-15 10:56 ~ 11:56 (1 hour)

Process : 1.
Extracted
the received time and
AIS message
from database
2. Transmitted the AIS message to CAS via
AIS Simulator (4x)
3. Compared the results of analysis for
16 parameters
4.
Experts checked
the track of vessels and determined the collision risk of the vessels
5. Get a result of the
optimized parameters
for CAS
Test 1. Bosporus Strait (Narrow Channel) (1/2)
- Optimized parameter :
13
or
16
(Accuracy : 7 point)
- Need to simulate the AIS data of
actual accident vessels
to improve the accuracy of the parameter
Accuracy score was decreased by 1 point due to the incorrectly analyzed parameter
Red
: correctly analyzed & risk : 90~95%
Blue
: incorrectly analyzed & risk : 90~95%
Test 1. Bosporus Strait (Narrow Channel) (2/2)
-
Experts checked
the track of vessels and determined the collision risk of the vessels.
Test 2. Turkish Coast
- Optimized Parameter :
- There is no vessels which run a risk of a collision around the Turkish coast in the testing data
-
Need to simulate
the AIS data of
actual accident vessels
to improve the accuracy of the parameter
Studied an algorithm to detect unusual sailing patterns of the small boats by using
acceleration sensor
- Detect unusual sailing situation by using gradient calculated from the
acceleration sensor
installed on board.
- The average gradient is calculated via the
average filter formula
- Critical value can be adjusted according to real time weather information such as
tide
, and it will
help to improve the accuracy of the analysis
Average gradient
is calculated with the previous average gradient and currently detected gradient

- Analyzed vessel incident cases at sea
- Defined pattern of the incidents and main parameters for Situation Awareness System
- Developed a prototype of the Situation Awareness System
- Added simulating function for Collision Analysis System
- Simulated AIS data provided from Turkey
- Studied an algorithm to detect unusual sailing patterns of the small boats by using acceleration sensor
- Verification of the accuracy of the parameters by using the actual AIS data of incident vessels
- Verification of the optimized parameters via the actual test at sea
- Development of web site to display the results of the analysis
Established the AIS communication network by using a virtual machine
- VM1 for the integration with AIS communication network and situational awareness
- VM2 for the web service and database
Established the AIS communication network by using a virtual machine
- AIS simulator transmits the packet(Received Time+AIS) using TCP-IP(4x)
- AIS Transmitter transmits it after converting the received AIS to defined format(ADP)
- ADP is used to analyze the data and display the situation awareness results
