Matthew as teacher
Matthew's gospel is known as the teacher's gospel because it focuses so heavily on the ministry of Jesus and emphasizes so strongly the need for Christian leaders to understand and teach others.
Matthew's gospel begins with the genealogy of Jesus. The genealogy begins with Abraham who is called "the father of all nations." Therefore, we might assume that Matthew's gospel was meant for all people.
Matthew quotes Isaiah to show that Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophesies (MT 1:23).
which means "God with us."
