annealing is more precise

727 recrystallization temperature
harden a material
hardening reduces ductility
harden doesn't change stiffness
different crystal have different names (phases)
heated above recrystallization temperature (727C)
rapid cooling of specimen in oil water or brine quenching mediums
needle like structure known as martensite forms
steel looses its magnetic properties when in austentitic structure
Heated to 50 above recrystallization temperature cooled in atmospheric conditions

To refine the grain structure
To encourage reduced grain segregation in castings and forgings and provide a more uniform structure
harder material than annealing
cheaper than annealing as room temperature cooling
