Coco Chanel The Fashion Career Legendary Creations How it all came down... World War I Thanks for Watching!!! Retirement February, 1955 May 5, 1926 August 5, 1923 April 11, 1921 First Steps to Success April 11, 1913 April 11, 1904 How it all started... After Gabrielle's mother died, her father took her and her siblings to an orphanage. At the orphanage, the nuns taught Gabrielle how to sew. Gabrielle gets her first job as a seamstress in a tailors shop. Gabrielle is given her first shop on the streets of Paris, France by her love Arthur Capel. After that, her entire fashion career starts to expand... Coco Chanel creates her first fragrance, Chanel No.5. It was mixed up of almost 80 different scents. Chanel No.5 was also the first perfume to be named after it's original designer. After performing in the theater, Chanel realized she didn't have anything classy or elegant to wear. She then created the "Little Black Dress". Even today, it's the first thing we grab out of our closets. Chanel Creates the first ever "Chanel Suit". It is an elegant creation composed of a knee-length skirt, trim and a boxy jacket with black sewing and gold buttons. The first Chanel 2.55 leather handbag was created. Chanel designed this so she could have an accessory for her other designs such as the "Little Black Dress" and the "Chanel Suit". Gabrielle had to close her shops in 1939, right around World War I. I hope you enjoyed the "Fashion Career of Coco Chanel" Coco also retired in 1939 after she closed down her shops. Like people always say,"With her trademark suits and little black dresses, fashion designer Coco Chanel created timeless designs that are still popular today."
