Prezi by: Will The cost of the monument was $23,700. The man on the monument is standing 9 feet tall and is representing a frontiersman in the war. Several thousand people were present at the unveiling of the monument. President William Howard Taft was the president who authorized the building of the monument. The monument was dedicated for the 119th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Recovery. They believe it was William B. Van Amringe who designed the monument The monument weighs 800 tons of granite, concrete, bronze, and other building materials. At the very point of the monument it is 101 feet, 4 inches tall.
