A Phenomenological Study The researcher attempted to contribute to an understanding of the phenomenon from an existential-phenomenological perspective. Introduction “In being born and in dying we let go, and yet throughout the course of our lives, in living our development, it appears that we are in a continuous process of letting go.” The present study attempts to explore and explicates the meaning and process of the developmental or progressive context. The following terms were defined conceptually and operationally to give light in this study: Key Terms Serendipity. This pertains to the luck some people have in finding or creating interesting or valuable things by good fortune; it also means fate or destiny (Merriam Dictionary, 2011). In this study, this refers to the chance given to the participants with difficulty to “let go” to go through phases, such as - Tribute, Free Verse, and Letting Go. “Letting Go.” This means to send away, set free, dissolve, put away, give up, neglect, leave alone, cancel, allow, tolerate, forsake, dismiss and forgive (Newman, 1971). Oxford Dictionary (2007 released) defined letting go as, “to release, set at liberty, lose hold of, relinquish hold of, dismiss from thought, or cease to restrain,” which was violated even by professionals in the field. In this study, the conceptual definition was used. School helping professionals. A group of people with expertise or qualifications expected in guidance and counseling, as well as strong connection in leading the client/patient to earn immediate assistance. These include counselors, counselor educators, and teacher educators. 3. my acutely aware personal experience that relates to "where the mobility of letting go is absent, a living pain exists." Motivation for the Study 1. my awareness of a reassuring sense of belongingness and needs to separate personal sense of self; 2. my privileged to hear stories of lives lived and to listen to the meaningful moments experienced of people . Often the term to “let go” or “letting go” has been used religiously, nonetheless what the meaning of the experience is remains diffuse and unexplored; The possible outcome might reveal the invincibility of time and space in the concept of letting go. To us humans, the dominance of time is reflected in the continuity of our spoken words or even through gestures or actions, as well as our Filipino culture - this fills the gap. Overview of the Study The lexical definition of letting go revealed a multifaceted term, and while studies did make use of the term, no psychological research had been conducted regarding the phenomenon within the Eastern field. Explore and understand the nature of the experience, what is it, and whether it was linked to separation (personal to professional aspect of the helping professionals), a term often used synonymously with letting go.
The aim of this study is to understand the meaning of experience, to discover and describe the structure and essence of the phenomenon of letting go.
Specifically, this is sought to determine the following:
1. Identify the profile of the participants as helping professionals;
2. Describe the lived experiences of letting go among helping professionals;
3. Discover the phase of letting go among helping professionals who have had handling difficulty. Aim of the Study The process with three (3) phases of letting go among helping professionals who have had handling difficulty, such as: Tribute (thru expressive writings), Free Verse (communicative narrations), and “Letting Go (release of painful episodes or passage to new event in life).” Framework This study doles out to the interactive meaning and vulnerability of every individual to let go. “Let go” is an expression often used in contemporary language, yet little is known about the experience and its real meaning. Fourtounas (2003) agrees to Ainsworth – Smith and Speck (1982), “letting go implies by being gently drawn into a new sort of existence; or being released or dragged into a void where nothing is safe of nothing consistent.”
A review of psychological literature reveals no significant theory regarding the concept of letting go, and a gap appears. Nevertheless, the psychological meaning of the phenomenon remains vague or even unexplored. The phenomenon can be present among helping professionals (or anyone) even in their work place. Mahler and Separation-Individuation Literature Review A non-random sampling technique was used in this study thru purposive sampling technique. Methodological Orientation Qualitative research design, which requires narratives about lived-experience of "letting go" to explicate its meaning and reveal its structure. Specifically, the approach is dealt with phenomenon focusing on human experience: it is not a direct report of the experience, but a search for the structural meaning of the experience - to discover and describe the structure of the given as experienced by the target participants (school helping professionals). Study initiated Alapack’s Approach (Moustakas, 2003) with accepted requirements:
(1) intensely interested in understanding the meanings of the phenomenon;
(2) willingness to participant in lengthy interview and perhaps follow-ups;
(3) grants the investigator the right to tape-record and possibly even videotape the interview; and
(4) grants the investigator the right to publish the data. Participants Target participants' criteria: (1) Licensed school helping professionals; and (2) self-confessed concern about “Letting Go.”

5. Extracting general and unique themes from all the interviews and making a composite summary. Explicitation of the data From the study undertaken it is evident that the awareness, personal capacity, openness to letting go are very important factors to total lived experiences of “Letting Go.” Synopsis of the Findings A wide spectrum of perspectives was found regarding the phenomenon of joint cultural, educational ventures and the perceived value derived from such collaborative efforts.
The process of letting go among school helping profession varies but significant on individual experiences and capacity to let go.
Synchronicity serves as a key element of the process of “Letting Go” was perceived important and contributing to one’s ability to achieve total let go.
The composite summary above only reflects the themes that are common to most or all of the interviewees lived experiences. However, individual variations or unique themes (Hycner, 1999) are as important as commonalities with regard to the phenomenon researched.
