4.
L

5
P
LACE
AN EASY WAY TO REMEMBER IT IS BY USING
THE WORD
MR. HELP
1.
H
UMAN-
E
NVIRONMENT INTERACTION-THIS DESCRIBES HOW PEOPLE AFFECT THEIR ENVIRONMENT.
M
OVEMENT: EXPLAINS HOW AND WHY PEOPLE IDEAS & GOODS MOVE FROM ONE PLACE TO PLACE.
R
EGION: ARES OF THE EARTH'S SURFACE THAT HAVE SEVERAL COMMON CHARACTERISTICS, SUCH AS LAND, NATURAL RESOURCES OR POPULATION.
L
OCATION: A POSITION OF A PLACE ON
THE EARTH'S SURFACE.
P
LACE
: DESCRIBES THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A LOCATION THAT MAKE IT DIFFERENT.

Title:
It tells you what information the map is showing.
2.
Key( legend)
: It explains the symbols, colors and lines on the map.
3.

Compass Rose:
It is a symbol that tells you about the cardinal directions are positioned (NSEW)
5.
Inset Map:
A smaller map set in the border of a larger one
Globes & Map: Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages:
Represent true land shape, distances
nd directions.

Disadvantages
: Cannot show detailed information
& difficult to carry
Globes
Advantages:
Show small things in
great detail.Display different types of information
such as population densitites or natural
resources, Easy to transport

Disadvantages:
Maps can distort or change the accuracy of shapes and distances

GIS ( Geographic Information Systems)
; Computer hardware and software that gather, store and analyze geogrphic information and then display it on a screen

The Equator:
An imiginary line that seperates the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphers
