Ruamrudee International School (RIS) is often described as a “school with a heart.” For five decades we have had the privilege of supporting children toward purposeful young adulthood. Our rigorous academic program, values-centered curriculum, and caring faculty aim to prepare our students for successful and responsible future endeavors.

Founded in 1957 by the Redemptorists, RIS has welcomed children of every faith with due respect for their heritage of belief and culture. Our students come from over 30 nations from pre-school to Grade 12.

RIS is one of Thailand’s oldest and most experienced international schools. Our curriculum, while based on the American system is constantly appraised to stay truly global. The list of over 300 universities around the world that our graduating seniors are offered positions at is very impressive, including Harvard, Yale and Oxford!

RIS moved to its current 26-acre campus in 1992, located in a clean-air suburban area 25 kilometers from downtown Bangkok, and only 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

RIS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), USA, Thai Education Ministry and Association of Indian Universities. RIS is also a member of the East Asian Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and the Council of International School (CIS). It is certified to award both the traditional US high school and International Baccalaureate diplomas.

These 10 tips are the heart of a great TEDTalk.

1.Dream big. Strive to create the best talk you have ever given. Reveal something never seen before. Do something the audience will remember forever. Share an idea that could change the world.

2.Show us the real you. Share your passions, your dreams ... and also your fears. Be vulnerable. Speak of failure as well as success.

3.Make the complex plain. Don't try to dazzle intellectually. Don't speak in abstractions. Explain! Give examples. Tell stories. Be specific.

4.Connect with people's emotions. Make us laugh! Make us cry!

5.Don't flaunt your ego. Don't boast. It’s the surest way to switch everyone off.
6. No selling from the stage! Unless we have specifically asked you to, do not talk about your company or organization. And don't even think about pitching your products or services or asking for funding from stage.

7.Feel free to comment on other speakers, to praise or to criticize. Controversy energizes! Enthusiastic endorsement is powerful!

8.If possible, don't read your talk. Notes are fine. But if the choice is between reading or rambling, then read!

9.You must end your talk on time. Doing otherwise is to steal time from the people that follow you. We won’t allow it.

10.Rehearse your talk in front of a trusted friend ... for timing, for clarity, for impact.
These tips come from TED's Director of Film + Video, Jason Wishnow:

A single, strong, graphic image or succinct line of text will tell your story better than a crowded collage or packed paragraph. Remember, people need to process everything you’re saying while simultaneously absorbing your slides. Rather than one complex slide, show several slides, each with one idea, image or data point.

Please eliminate slides that are essentially Headline + Bullet-Points. These can get very tired.

You rarely need more than six lines of text on a slide. Often, only a line or two will do.

Sans-serif fonts (like Helvetica) are easier to read at a distance than serif fonts (like Times New Roman).

A simple, elegant background behind your text should be used to complement and enhance the readability of your words. If using a dark or black background, you may want to make the text bold.
Remember, this is your big moment to shine.

Yes, there a lot of people in front of you, but they want to hear what you
have to say. Don't be afraid to be a little bit proud of what you are talking about.
You are on the stage for a reason.

Just before you speak...take a deep breath.

Remember, you were chosen to be part of a great team of people sharing ideas.

Then do it. Share what you have...

...don't worry - everyone is going to love you. Technical considerations... Lastly... Don't worry... We'll take care of you.

Everything is ready to make this one of the finest events in Bangkok.

On the day of the event, the speakers for each session will be wired
with a headset microphone. Speakers for each session shall sit in the
front row and will be introduced by our host, Greg Jorgensen.

Greg will take the time to meet you personally before your talk, and
will discuss your introduction with you.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share
ideas worth spreading. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks videos and live speakers combine to
spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded
TEDx, where x=independently organized event. The TED Conference provides general
guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
About TED
TED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited
to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology,
Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our
future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any
discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into
the future." The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is
almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane
Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. But,
TED is about much more than famous names. It is about passion, laughter, beauty,
ingenuity and ideas capable of changing the world.
