Negatives of Booker T. Washington
Transcript of Negatives of Booker T. Washington
By : AJ, Andre, Tyler, & Earvin
~ Racist ~
~ Booker T. Washington was racist in the way that he wanted blacks to get out of segregation but slowly, and he supported segregation. His college that he made for blacks taught them how to be janitors and garbage men and other lowly jobs.
Ex : He felt whites were better at the moment and blacks were not capable of there knowledge
~ W.E.B Du Bois. ~
Mr. Du Bois believed that african americans were "competent" enough to be in the higher ranks of society where as Mr.Washington believed we must first achieve the basics before we can achieve larger tasks.
W. E. B. Du Bois
Already proven capable of higher thinking as well as higher ranks of society and life. Mr. Du Bois held a valid point when stating that Blacks are just as equal and smart as whites. His theory was already proven through the work of his own as well as Mr. Hiram Revels and Mr. Benjamin S. Turner. Both men were black and very educated. And both men held office during the reconstruction time period.
W.E.B. Dubois once said "Either America will destroy Ignorance or Ignorance will destroy America" all though Mr. Washington also believed we should abolish ignorance to be head of anything or be on top of or be the leader of anything small or large because we were to ignorant however we did know the bitter taste of opression and then could have been our "Pheonix" moment where we rose from the ashes and made them pay by making predatory laws which would have only proved Mr. Washington's hypothesis correct and us ignorant thus us not being in power is good for us as well as the rest of the nation.
THE 14TH AMENDMENT ON OUR SIDE
The History of Mr. Du Bois
Under the 14th amendment all citizens are endowed with inalienable rights and for all to be equal . Which therefore makes his ideal of a slow rise to equality unconstitutional as well as stereo typical the belief that african americans are ignorant have been around since slave days we were viewed as less than which would also make Booker T Washington a person to stereo type his own kind.

What truly drove Mr.Washington? Did it come from within or was it an outside source given to him. Washington's motives were very questionable. Throughout his career Washington was looked at as one of the most influential black men in the world but what happened behind the scenes. Did Mr. Washington do it for money and for the advancement of his own personal desires or was it truly for the rise of his race? what we do know is W.E.B. Du bois was for equality now not driven by alternate motives Mr Du Bois was the iconic black figure that fought for the advancement of his race and the future of the African American image.
