In Case of a Fire…
If you smell smoke or see fire, pull the alarm.
In Case of a Fire…
ALWAYS EVACUATE WHEN THE ALARM SOUNDS! NEVER ASSUME AN ALARM IS FALSE.

Close windows and doors behind you. (Do not lock doors).

Encourage students to move quickly and quietly to the nearest stairwells and exits (including the glass doors in the Gallery). Encourage students to remain
CALM
and to remain
SILENT
.

Immediately evacuate the building.

AND QUIETLY
proceed to the designated areas on the
GREEN SPACE
.

In Case of a Fire…
Direct students to line up by grade level in the areas designated for students.

Proceed to the area designated for Staffulty and line up alphabetically. Attendance will be taken on the

Do not re-enter the building until clearance is given by the fire department and the Head of School.

In Case of an Earthquake…
If you are outside of the building…
Move away from buildings, trees and wires.
Drop to the ground; cover your neck and head; wait for the shaking to stop.
If you are inside of the building…
Move away from windows and drop to the floor.

In Case of an Earthquake…
When the shaking stops, encourage students to move quickly and quietly to the nearest stairwells and exits (including the glass doors in the Gallery) and out to the
GREEN SPACE
. Encourage students to remain
CALM
and to remain
SILENT.
Evacuate to the

GREEN SPACE
Protocols for an Intruder
in the Building
If There Is an Intruder Inside of the Building...
If you are the first to see an
INTRUDER
, using the instructions that may be found next to each classroom phone, announce a “
Strong Lockdown
” over the emergency broadcast system.

Shelter yourself under a table/desk/chair for protection from flying debris and broken glass.

Hold on to the furniture and cover the back of your neck with your free hand.
Direct students to line up by grade level in the areas designated for students.
Proceed to the area designated for staffulty and line up alphabetically. Attendance will be taken on the
GREEN SPACE.
Do not re-enter building until clearance is given by the Head of School.
If possible, use a cell phone to call 911 or 561-5656.

When you hear the "
Strong Lockdown
" message, immediately clear all students and visitors from public areas (including restrooms) into the nearest lockable space.

Tentative Dates for 1st Trimester Emergency Drills*


Be Sure To...
Close and lock all windows and doors. Close the shades and turn off the lights.

Move students away from all windows and doors. Seat students against an interior wall, if possible.

MAINTAIN SILENCE. REMAIN CALM.

If it is safe to do so, furniture can be moved against the door to provide a barrier to entry.

DO NOT
evacuate if the fire alarm sounds; it may have been pulled by the intruder.



Finally…
If a SAFE opportunity presents itself, use the
RED

or

GREEN
placard to communicate the status of your situation with law enforcement officials outside of the building. If it is safe to do so, place one of the placards on the windowpane to indicate the status of the situation in your room.
RED
:
Students or Staffulty are injured or the room is not secure.
GREEN
:
Students and Staffulty are safe and secure.

Keep your area secure.
DO NOT
unlock or open the door until a law enforcement agent arrives to inform you that the building is secure.

Protocols for a Dangerous Individual
in the Presidio
If There Is an Armed Individual
Outside of the Building...
If you are the first to see an
ARMED INDIVIDUAL
, using the instructions that may be found next to each classroom phone to announce a “First Floor Lockdown” over the emergency broadcast system.

If you are on the first floor, call all students inside and guide students and visitors to the second or third floor.

Make sure all hallways and restrooms are cleared.

Be Sure To...
Close the window shades. Turn off the lights.

Move away from all windows and doors. Sit against an interior wall, if possible.

MAINTAIN SILENCE. REMAIN CALM.


Finally…

Bodily fluid and blood spill kits are located in the following places:

3rd Floor – North stairwell to The Manson Room
Project Center – PC 107

Should you witness or assist with anything beyond a very minor scrape or bruise, please be sure to complete an Incident Report Form and turn it in to Paul Galvin.
