~Was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years
~ Came from the Egyptian civilization ~Built by King Nebuchadnezzar so that his wife would not be so homesick of her homeland that was very mountainous and green
~Destroyed by an earthquake in the 2ND century BC
~ Came from the Second Babylonian Empire ~ Was built in Olympia to honor the Greek Olympic Games
~ Doric columns were used to support the structure
~ Came from the Greek civilization ~ First built around 800 BCE in the Ancient Greek city if Ephesus
~ It was destroyed and rebuilt many times, but each time it was built better than the last
~ Came from the Greek civilization ~ A tomb for King Mausolus built by his wife Artemisia
~ Artemisia wanted her husbands tomb to be the most magnificent in the world
~ Came from the Roman civilization ~ Was built out of armor and war machinery left behind by General Ptolemy's army
~ General Ptolemy sent his army to Rhodes so they could help the townspeople drive away the enemy
~ Came from the Macedonian civilization ~ Built on the island of Pharos in the harbor of Alexandria
~ It was a working lighthouse that helped ships find their way safely into harbor
