Homo sapien
Black Bear

"Shiny black and silky the bear stood on his hind legs" (pg 60)
Mosquitoes
"The mosquitoes came out again and clouded in on him" (pg 50)
"Some flies were on the berries and he brushed them off" (pg 57)
Flies
Porcupine
"A porcupine stumbled into his shelter and when he had kicked it, the thing slapped him with it's tail of quills" ( pg 64)
"There must be freshwater lake turtles that did the same" (pg 80)
Turtle
Fish
"There were fish in the lake and they were food." (pg 87)
Skunk
"He did not know how the skunk had found the eggs." (pg 105)
Fool bird
" The bird had sat and he had lunged and the two points took the bird back down into the ground and killed it." (pg 113)
Female moose
"He just had time to see it was a moose." ( pg 121)
Wolf
"He knew the wolf now, as the wolf knew him, and he nodded to it, nodded and smiled." (pg 98)
Gut berries
"He could not stop and kept stripping branches and eating berries by the handful." (pg 51)
Reflection
These are some of the animals that are most important to Brian
Fish -
The fish helped Brian because he could eat them
"There were fish in the lake and they were food."

Turtle -
The turtle laid the eggs and this meant Brian had food.

"There must be freshwater lake turtles that did the same"

Fool Bird -
The fool bird helped Brian because he hunted them and ate him.
" The bird had sat and he had lunged and the two points took the bird back down into the ground and killed it."




Raspberries
" So good, so sweet and rich and his body was so empty." (pg 60)
Birds
" He could not believe it was that easy. It was as if the birds had taken him right to the berries." (pg 50)
