Definition:

Definition:
The beat of poetry
meter
Definition:
The pattern of rhythm in a poem.
rhyme
Definition:
Words that have the same ending sounds.
verse
Definition:
A synonym for stanza.
prose
Definition:
The language you normally speak with.
proverb
limerick
Definition:
A humorous poem with five lines. Lines one, two, and five share the same rhyme. Lines three and four rhyme with each other.
acrostic poetry
Definition:
A type of poetry that spells a word or phrase vertically and then uses each letter to start a new word.
concrete poetry
Definition:
Poetry whose visual appearance matches the topic of the poem.
Definition:
A short but memorable saying which has an important fact of experience that is considered true by many people.
Definition:
A synonym for adage.
Haikus have rhythm when you read them because of their specific syllable patterns.
The meter of a haiku is 5-7-5
Poems do not always have to rhyme, but they often do.
I stop reading after every stanza to make sure I understand what the poem is saying.
