music is sacred. It was
written for the church.
Arts had a
rebirth in music,
art, politics and
religion and science.
There was also
secular music.
Best music was vocal music. Greensleeves was written.
Written for kings and
queens for entertainment.
Four types of voices soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Songs were written polyphonic style in rounds and canons.
The printing press was
invented by Johann
Gutenberg in 1436. It spread
written music, literature and poetry.
Columbus discovers
America in 1492.
Harpsichord
was used. The organ was also used.
First African slaves brought to British America. 20 young women are tried in Salem, MA for witchcraft.
First British colony in
Jamestown, VA. George Washington is born in Virginia.
Johann Sebastian Bach born in Germany. His
death marked the end of the Baroque
Period in 1750. Best know for vocal music.
Vivaldi and Bach were two
important composers in the
Baroque era.
Galieo and Newton
were unlocking the secrets of the
universe. Telescope and microscope
were invented.
Beethoven was a
famous classical
composer.
Benjamin Franklin discovers electricity.
George Washington was inaugurated.
American Revolution
Mozart born in Austria. Died
at age 35. He was bad with money.
He wrote variations on Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star. By the age of 30,
Mozart had written 40 symphonies.
Beethoven born in
Germany in 1770 - 1826.
He was very sloppy. He became
deaf. Wrote music for the public.
Beethoven was good with money. Published first symphony at age 30.
He didn't marry. His funeral was a big event. Thousands were in attendance. Beethoven wrote the 9th Symphony and Fur Elise.
Musical form started
to be very important.
