According to Tuckmann (1965) all teams go through different stages that are all necessary. This model is by no means the best, but many models are formed on top of this.
Team acquaints and establishes ground rules
Members resist control by group leaders and show hostility
Members work together developing close relationships and feelings of camaraderie
Team members work toward getting their job done
Autonomy plays the most critical role in fostering motivation in the creative kind.
Ensuring the most effective team members are assigned to productive work.
This is no “carrot and stick”.

Confront brutal facts.
Periods of adjustment.
Teams desire to narrow the gap between what they are doing and what they should be doing.
