Growing Up
Gabby Douglas was born December 31, 1995, in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Her sister was the person who convinced Gabby that she should try gymnastics
Gabby started formal training at age 6 (her sister was teaching her before)
Gabby won her first state championship at age 8
Accomplishments
When Gabby was 8 years old she was named the Virginia State Gymnastics Champion.
At 14 Douglas placed fourth all-around at the 2010 Cover Girl classic in Chicago, Illinois.
Gabby won the silver medal on balance beam and fourth all-around at the 2010 U.S. Junior National Championships
Accomplishments cont.
She took the uneven bars title at the 2010 Pan American Championships. Her performance at that event also placed Douglas at fifth all-around and won her a share of the U.S. team gold medal.
She was a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the team finals at the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Summer Olympics
She placed first in the Olympic Trials.
Gabby Douglas was 16 when she won 2 Olympic gold medals at the London Summer Olympics in 2012
Gabby won the gold medal in the All Around Division and the team Division
