Transcript of Brainstorming, Organizing, and Writing a Paragraph

Write a paragraph describing your favorite food and why it is the best. Aha! First Next Then Almost... Team 0 + - = 9 8 7 1 2 3 4 5 6 c How do we write a paragraph? A paragraph has 5-8 sentences. It has a topic sentence, a body with three ideas, and a concluding sentence.

Writers brainstorm before writing. We
write down our ideas.

Then, we organize them into an outline. Well, then what? Last, we take our outline and write what
we put down in order. We will be using the
Hamburger Outline today. What is the
Hamburger Outline? How do we use it? The top bun is the topic
sentence, or main idea.

The fillings are the
supporting ideas.

The bottom bun is the
concluding sentence. Our favorite food is pizza. We like pizza because it has fresh toppings. Moreover, pizza is good because it is healthy. It is also cheap and can feed many people. Pizza is our favorite food because it is healthy, fresh, and cheap. Standards: SPI 0601.3.11 Complete a graphic
