Arpanet was the first real network to run on packet switch technology.

Electronic mail is introduced by Ray Tomlinson

the first PC modern, developed by Dennis Hayes and Dale Heatherington was introduced.

AOL is launched.

transmission control protocol/internet protocol is designed

Jerry and David's guide to the World Wide Web was renamed Yahoo!

Google arrives. It pioneers a ranking system that uses links to assess a websites popularity.

Skype is released to the public, giving a user friendly interface to voice over IP calling. Myspace becomes the most popular social network.

Facebook launches in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg.

Youtube launches bringing free online video hosting and sharing to the masses.

twitter is launched it was originally going to be called twittr inspired by flickr.

Iphone was responsible for renewed interest in mobile web applications and design.
