The title tells you the purpose of the map; what it is trying to show.
Scale
The Key explains what symbols and colors on a map represent.
The compass rose shows the direction of north (and thus, south, east, and west).
Map scale is a line that shows how map distance converts into real-life distance.

Make a map of something in your life. Your room, your yard, your neighborhood, your route home from school. Something that matters to you. Make sure that you get the scale correct.
