You and your students can post and respond to one another. It's pretty straightforward. Type where it says, "Type your note here...". Then where it says "Send to..." type in the group or person you want to send it to. Click send. Your post will appear! Why Edmodo? Edmodo can help you improve communication with your students and compliment your teaching. More communication usually means less confusion and better understanding. It's also a great site for your own professional development. There are hundreds of Edmodo communities out there, and more are added every day. Edmodo is simple to set up and easy to use. Getting Started... Easy! Use the link on the RCS homepage to take you directly to Edmodo. At the homepage, simply click "I'm a Teacher" and a new box will open up. Fill in the information and click "Sign up". That's it! No verification email, no spam choices - it's that simple.
Now that you're in Edmodo, you need to join your school group. To do this, click on "Join" in the Groups area of Edmodo (left sidebar). Edmodo will prompt you for a code. If you do not have your code, we have it for you. Create a Group What is Edmodo? Edmodo is an educational site built on the ideas of a social network but made appropriate for a classroom. Using Edmodo allows students and teachers to connect by sharing ideas, problems and helpful tips. It is a safe environment within the RCS "umbrella". There can be no bullying or inappropriate content, because the teacher can see everything that is posted on Edmodo and has full control on the page. EDMODO Settings Click on "create" in the Groups choice on the left sidebar. A new window will pop up prompting you to name your group and assign the grade level. After you have created your group, Edmodo will post the group code to your homepage. This is the code you give to your students to allow them to join your group. Under "Account" (top-right) you can change your settings. Pretty basic. You can change your profile picture by choosing one from Edmodo or uploading your own. You can also change other personal information. Invite!
