Transcript of Preamble

In September of 1787, U.S. delegates completed the constitution; which was a written plan for American government. The introduction to the constitution was called the Preamble and goes like this: We the people of the United States, In order to form a more perfect Union,
establish justice,
provide for the common defense,
promote the GENERAL WELFARE,
and secure the Blessings and Liberty,
to ourselves and our POSTERITY,
do ORDAIN and establish the Constitution of the United States of America Notice that some word are in all capital letters. These are vocabulary words and are defined below
insure- protect against risk
domestic tranquility- peace within a nation, particularly in the home
general welfare- government concern over the health, peace, morality, and safety of its citizens
posterity- future generations
ordain- command formally, appoint Some of the goals in the Preamble are:
To introduce the purpose of the Constitution
Explain how the constitution judges criminal cases fairly, keep peace in the nation,
