Meet Vasco Balboa
((not the real guy))
Balboa had been inspired by Christopher Columbus' voyages. Vasco eventually decided to go on his own adventure. He went to discover the Americas and to bring back gold and treasure. After realizing they didn't have enough men for the expedition, Balboa and some of the crew settled in Hispaniola. There, he became a pig farmer and a pretty unsuccessful one at that. In 1509, he joined a ship as a stowaway under the rule of Fransisco Pizzaro. He was found, but gained popularity with the crew and suggested they head to Darien instead of San Sabestian. There they went and Balboa become mayor of Santa Maria. He also become the governor of Veragua not long after being mayor in Santa Maria. Unfortunately, being governor contributed to his death to come in later years.
