Restavek Freedom Foundation

The Mission of Restavek
The
Restavek Freedom Foundation
wants to
end
the system of restavek. Accomplishing this will require much
effort
and
many people
.
This can be done by addressing both the
immediate needs of children
currently in restavek while also finding ways to
change
the
behaviors
that keep the system alive.
Restavek Freedom was founded in
2007
, by
Joan and Ray Conn
.

Restavek:
a modern day type of child slavery which exists in Haiti
Restavek
means child, servant, and slave
One in every
15
children in Haiti is living in restavek today! (that would be equal to
40
girls from SUA!)
These kids are
used, abused, and exploited
This happens as a result of a web of social issues
Includes poverty, healthcare, education, family planning and child protection

too complicated,

too evil

to fulfill its mission. They
believe
we can
change
things if we all are willing to
Stand Up For Freedom.
