Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was the leader of Soviet Union from 1929-1953. Stalin was a dictator; under him the Soviet Union was transformed into an industrial and military superpower.
One day after Stalin's death Georgi Malenkov takes over the Soviet Union. Malenkov was the first secretary of the Communist party. Malenkov climbed the Communist party in the 1930's and 1940's. By the late 1940's it was assumed by most that he would succeed Stalin.
Prokofiev was a music composer from Russia. During WWII Prokofiev moved to various places in the U.S.S.R. During this time he produced propaganda music.
On June 23, 1956, 99.95 percent of Egyptians voted for the only candidate on the ballot, Gamal Abdel Nasser. Nasser overthrew the Egyptian monarchy. Nasser faced a major crisis when the desicion to reverse the financing on a high dam on the Nile River. Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal, causing the French, Britian, and Israel to attack Egypt.

Nelson A. Rockefeller shared an ambitious vision with his grandfather John D. Rockefeller Sr. Nelson wanted to be more popular, and president of the United States, though fate (which he believed in) would not oblige. In 1940, he joined President Roosevelt's administration as the head of affairs in Latin-America.
Roy Campanella was a professional baseball player who started at age fifteen. After eight years in the Negro leagues he was recruited by the Dodgers. He played for ten years before getting in a car wreck and breaking the fifth vertebra in his back.
Communist Bloc
The Communist Bloc was countries that adopted Communist ideas and became linked with the Soviet Union. Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Romania, East Germany, Poland and Albania were part of the Communist Bloc during the Cold War.
