Many countries had alliances with foreign countries and when the countires went into war, thier alliances had to join the war also. Some examples of the allied countries are: Russia and Serbia, Germany and Austria-Hungary, France and Russia, Britain and France and Britain, and Japan and Britain.
Imperialism is bringing additional territories under another countires control.
By 1914, Germany had the greatest military growth. The more envloved militaries had more influence on the smaller countries.
Many countries wanted to be apart of others, instead of the country they're currently apart of.
A Serbian-nationalist terrorist group tried to assassinate the Archduke as a protest to Austria-Hungary having control of Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Increasing power and wealth, the counties that others basically controlled had to go into war also.
