Transcript of eMINTS

enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies eMINTS: The goal of the eMINTS program is to integrate multimedia technology into inquiry-based, student-centered learning. Our classroom has been a part of the eMINTS program for the past 2 years. Having a technologically rich clasroom enables the teacher to plan creative and exciting learning activities. Technology along with student-centered learning help to motivate children.

To get a better understanding of how students in our classroom use technology as a learning tool just check out our class website to see the many subject area links, projects using web resources, inquiry-based webquests, and the samples of student work.

Student Learning In progress Immigration Webquest In this project students research what it was like to immigrate to the US at the turn of the century. They become their character by researching what life was like in their homeland. This webquest combines online activities with a real life simulation. It allows students to put themselves in soomeone else's shoes. Weather Data Spreadsheet During our weather science unit, students collect data on 5 cities throughout the country. They record high and low temperatures for those cities. They then compile their data into a table and create a graph to represent the data. Inspiration Webs Throughout the year we use Inspiration software to show idea maps. These are often in the form of webs. These webs can show how ideas are connected to each other. We do webs for immigration, trench warfare, and cloud types. Benefits of technology integration Students become motivated when presented with a task involving technology.
