Avenue Q is a coming of age musical about adults who have just come out of college and people trying to get jobs and make enough money.
Avenue Q was a musical that changed Broadway, because there are puppets in the show. People described it as "adult Muppets".
With 2,534 performances Aveune Q is the 22 longest running Broadway show. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a one act musical by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a show by Rachel Sheinkin and additional material by Jay Reiss. The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky teenagers compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. Urinetown the Musical is a satirical comedy show with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and scipt by Kotis. It satirizes the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and municipal politics. The show also parodies musicals such as The Cradle Will Rock and Les Misérables, and the Broadway musical itself as a form. Wicked (full title: Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz) is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a script by Winnie Holzman. It is based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, a parallel novel of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and L. Once The Musicals 2011-2012 Bring it
On the Musical Bring It On: The Musical has with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt and Amanda Green and script by Jeff Whitty. The story is loosely based on the 2000 film of the same name and focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and over-the-top team rivalries.
Bring It On premiered at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia in January 2011. The cast included Amanda LaVergne as Campbell, Adrienne Warren as Danielle, Nick Blaemire as Randall and award-winning competitive cheerleaders from across the country. In November 2011, a national tour of the musical started at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles, through December 2011.
The touring stage production began previews on Broadway in July 2012 at the St. James Theatre, before opening for a limited engagement on August 1, 2012 to December 30, 2012. The Book of Mormon The Book of Mormon is a religious parody musical with a book, lyrics, and music by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. Best known for creating the show South Park, Parker and Stone co-created the music with Lopez, who co-wrote and co-composed Avenue Q.
The Book of Mormon tells a story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda, where a warlord is threatening the local population. The two Mormons try to share the Book of Mormon,but aren't off to a very good start.
After nearly seven years of development, the show opened on Broadway in March 2011. The Book of Mormon has gotten positive reviews and lots of awards including nine Tony Awards, one of which was for Best Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. An original Broadway cast recording was released in May 2011 and became the highest-charting Broadway cast album in over four decades, reaching number 3 on the Billboard charts. Once the Musiscal Winner of Best Musical 2011! Once is a musical version of the 2006 film of the same name. The musical premiered at the New York Theater Workshop in 2011 and then transferred to Broadway in 2012. The production received eleven 2012 Tony Award nominations, and won eight of those awards including Best Musical, Best Actor, and Best Book.
