Where is it located?
The flammable bubbles are located in Alberta, Canada Lake Abraham, and it was discovered in 1972.

How was it formed?
Methane bubbles create in bodies of water when dead organic matter ( from leaves and animals ) fall into the water, sinks to the bottom hitting bacteria at the bottom. Bacteria eats on to the matter and poops out methane, then turns in to methane bubbles when it comes in contact with frozen water.
What is it's function?
Besides beautiful appearance these weird white bubbles frozen are highly flammable toxic gas with deadly effects when exposed to any heat source. If temperature of plant rises, gas could release into the atmosphere which is really dangerous to living creatures including humans.
Bubbles are formed when plants on the lake bed releases methane gas, which freezes as it reaches the Earth's surface. Millions of world lakes are producing it. In summer months, bubbles of methane float to the top and pop releasing an explosive gas into the air rising to the atmosphere. In winter months the methane bubbles float to the top trapped under creating beautiful patterns in the ice. Scientist believed that more than ten times the count of methane in the Earth's atmosphere will come out of the lakes in the near future.
