“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” - Col 3:12-14
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

WELCOME
PRAY
John 6:35: “... I AM the bread of life”
I thank You, Christ and Master, our God, King of the ages and Creator of all things, for all the good gifts You have given me, and especially for participation in your pure and Life-Giving Mysteries. Therefore I pray to You, good Lord and Lover of mankind: keep me under Your protection and under the shadow of Your wings. Grant that to my very last breath I may partake worthily of Your most pure Mysteries with a clear conscience for the forgiveness of sins and for Eternal Life. For You are the Bread of Life and to You we give glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
def: REBEL (reb·el/ˈrebəl/) - noun: A person who rises in armed resistance against an established government or ruler.
Who
Am I?
THE NICENE CREED

I believe in one God
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of the Father before all ages;
Light of Light, true God of true God,
begotten, not created
of one essence with the Father
through Whom all things were made.
Who for us men and for our salvation
came down from heaven
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit
and the Virgin Mary and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,
and suffered and was buried;
And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated
at the right hand of the Father;
And He will come again with glory
to judge the living and dead.
His kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life,
Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the age to come. Amen.
O Christ our God, who at all times and in every hour, in heaven and on earth, are worshipped and glorified; who are long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; who love the just and show mercy upon the sinner; who call all to salvation through the promise of blessings to come; O Lord, in this hour receive our supplications and direct our lives according to Your commandments. Sanctify our souls, hallow our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulation, evil and distress. Encompass us with Your holy Angels that, guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of Your unapproachable glory, for You are blessed unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, grant me to greet the day in peace, help me in all things to rely upon Your holy will. In every hour of the day reveal Your will to me. Bless my dealings with all who surround me. Teach me to treat all that comes to me throughout the day with peace of soul and with firm conviction that Your will governs all. In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events, let me not forget that all are sent by You. Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering and embarrassing others. Give me strength to bear the fatigue of the day and all that it shall bring. Direct my will, teach me to pray. And, Yourself, pray in me. Amen.

/xrēstótēs ("useful kindness") refers to meeting real needs, in God's way, in His timing (fashion); "divine kindness" is the Spirit-produced goodness which meets the need and avoids human harshness (cruelty).
The state or quality of being humble; freedom from pride and arrogance; lowliness of mind; a modest estimate of one's own worth; a sense of one's own unworthiness through imperfection and sinfulness.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies.

Obey – The Biblical word for “obey” comes from the Greek “hupakou” which means to listen attentively; by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority. This word conveys the idea of actively following a command. There is no choice in the matter, it is to be done whether one agrees with it or not. Obedience is involuntary.
Submit – The Biblical word “submit” comes from the Greek “hupeiko” which means to yield; to passively surrender to an authority. Submission is similar to obedience but in this case one might question what is being commanded. Submission is voluntary.

REPENT IN HUMILITY
(true sorrow/remorse)

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
First step is an admission of poverty...God's blessing is not recieved by those who earn it, but by those who admit they don't deserve it. Joy of Sarah, Peter, and Paul came when they surrendered.
Second step is sorrow...God's blessing comes to those who are sincerely sorry for their sin. We discover this when we leave our prison of pride and repent of our rebellion.
Sorrow is followed by meekness...The meek are those who are willing to be USED by God. Junior high band playing with the Boston Pops...they don't tell the Maestro how to conduct, they're just thrilled to be part of the concert. We have an Annunciation experience EVERYDAY.

“And you will call his name Jesus.”
-Matthew 1:21 and Luke 1:31

-Philippians 2:9
The name and what that name means is incredibly important. When you know something or someone’s name, it means you really know them.

Disciple of Christ?
1. Find a Spiritual Father
2. Have (and stick to) a Prayer Rule
3. Fast
4. Give Alms
5. Read the Scripture
6. Attend the Services
1 In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
14 And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-5; 14

Ephesians
Chapter 1
Saturday, Oct 24th at Stratum in Mesa
Now the parable is this: The seed is THE WORD OF GOD. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away THE WORD from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear THE WORD, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing THE WORD, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience." As he said these things, he cried out "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
LUKE 8:11-15
When we think of Jesus as the Word, we should not think simply of speech, and we should not think simply of writings. Certainly, we should not think JUST of the Bible (St. Maximus would say, “The Bible is the Word of God incarnate in human words,”). But in Jesus of Nazareth, you have the Word himself in his own Person becoming the real human being, the real man Jesus. So he is the Word of God himself, perfectly, in the flesh, and that’s why all of his words are, in fact, “words of the Word,” When we see Jesus, hear Jesus, touch Jesus, taste Jesus, see what Jesus does, see how he acts, we are then confessing him as the unique Word of God. What it means is that he is God’s ultimate, final speech; God’s ultimate, final revelation of himself; God’s ultimate and final act; God’s ultimate and final thing. He is the embodiment of God himself, the great “I am,” and God’s very Son, the WORD oF GOD.

REDEEMER
You are more beautiful than all men, O Bridegroom Christ! You have invited us to the spiritual banquet of your bridal chamber. Strip me of the ugly garments of my sins as I participate in your Passion. Adorn me with the glorious robe of your divine beauty that proclaims me as a guest in your kingdom, O merciful Lord.
“And He gave himself as a ransom unto death, by which we were held captive, sold under sin.”
Liturgy of St. Basil
So the claim is that we are ransomed FROM DEATH, which is the wages of sin, so that we are ransomed from the effect of our own sinfulness, which makes us mortal and makes us die.
We cannot do anything to save ourselves.
What ENSLAVES US?
Through Christ's death on the cross we are delivered, we are released, we are liberated, we are set free, from everything that enslaves us. We are liberated from everything that destroys us. We are liberated, released, ransomed, set free, from everything that binds us, that hold us, that enchains us.
What redeemed for?

HELP NEEDED TODAY
Bridegroom
Philipians 2:1-11
For ancient Christianity and for Eastern Orthodoxy
through the ages, the very NAME “Jesus, Yeshua, Joshua”
is the PRESENCE and the POWER of the Person of Christ himself. When you say that name, he is there. When you invoke that name, Jesus is present. His power is present.
His might is present. His saving power is present. He is present! It’s a parousia (a coming/an official visit). It’s
a parousia before the presence of the Lord at
the end of the ages, and at the end of the age
is when every knee in heaven and on earth
will bow down before Him
to the glory of God the Father.
Hymn from
Bridegroom Service

12:30-3:30 pm
Christ is risen from the dead, by death, He has trampled down death, and on those in the tombs He is bestowing life.

Christos Anesti ek nekron, thanato thanaton patisas, kai tis en tis mnimasi zoin harisamenos.

Christ is risen from the dead, by death, He has trampled down death, and on those in the tombs He is bestowing life.
ALL of the names (titles, characteristics, etc.)
are summed up in that ONE name of “Jesus.”
From the beginning... NAMING is extremely important. Adam is commanded by God to give NAMES to everything, to show what they are. The NAME is a presence and a power of the reality of that which is named. The NAME somehow reveals the very being and substance and presence and action of the reality.
Gen 2:19-20
"Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Bring a dish to share!!!
"And we believe that there is no other name that is saving. Whether people know it or not, if they are saved in God’s kingdom, it’ll be because of Jesus Christ: his Person, his presence, and his power. So we glorify that name. But we also have to know, as our Holy Fathers teach us, that even the name of Jesus has to be somehow qualified and transcended, because the God who is holy is not like anything else. And if God’s name is holy, and if Christ is the holy one of God, then even the name of Jesus takes us beyond itself, into the realm of perfect silence beyond every name, beyond every name that is named [in] heaven and on earth: it’s beyond it.
In some sense, the reality of Christ himself is beyond even the name of Jesus. The name guarantees his presence, but the presence itself is above the name. It’s the name that’s REVEALING the presence, but the presence is prior and beyond and ineffable, inconceivable, invisible, incomprehensible, nameless."
