Telephone
In modern times communciation has become much easier and much faster.
Cell phones have become very popular. The first cell phones were much bigger than our modern ones. The first ones could only make calls. Then they could text but you had to push each button lots of times to spell words. Now we have Smart Phones that can do almost anything. We can text, call, face time, chat, take photos, play games, use the internet ... they are like a computer in your pocket!
telephone part 2
by 1877 everyone knew about the telephone and were keen to bye them for their business .the first telephones were really big . they worked by one person dialing a number .
someone who worked at the post office (called an operator )
answered the call and connected it to the person you wanted to talk to using a switch board.
it meant they could listen to your phone call !
old fashioned phone's had a dial and phone numbers only had three numbers ! most people didn't have phone's in there houses until the 1950s !
The Future is Exciting
How has communication changed ?
people used there wall's to tell stories and ask for help .
there is still some people using there
wall's to communicate by making height charts and message walls.
the telegraph was invented by a man named samuel morse.

Telegrams were used to send messages to far away places.they used morse code to send along electricity lines. people at the post office would write the message down and deliver it to the person. when my mum was born her mum and dad sent a telegraph to england to tell her family there was a new baby girl.
people used to send letters to COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER PEOPLE because they did not have laptops and emails so they had to send letters. tO SEND A LETTER THEY WOULD WRITE THE LETTER, TAKE IT TO THE POST OFFICE AND THEN IT WOULD TAKE A LONG TIME TO BE DELIVERED. hORSES, TRAINS AND BOATS WERE THE MAIN WAYS LETTERS WERE DELIVERED IN THE PAST. lATER PLANES WERE USED. iN THE PAST MAIL WAS DELIVERED EVERY DAY BUT LAST YEAR IT STARTED ONLY BEING DELIVERED THREE TIMES A WEEK BECAUSE PEOPLE USE EMAIL TO SEND MOST LETTERS NOW.
alexrander graham bell invented the telephone in 1875 with a mAN called thomas watson because he was good at electrical things and alexrander graham bell HAD an idea of how to make people to be able to talk to each other over a thing called a telephone but he didn't have the skills to do it on his own !
Cell Phones
Modern Communication
It is really easy to communicate quickly with people now. You can send messages instantly. The good thing about this is it means you can contact people instantly but it also has a downside because it means it is harder to have time without being contacted. Lots of people can't do anything without their phone in their hand so it is harder to have family time.
What will the future hold?
Technology is changing so fast it is hard to know what communication will be like in the future. We wonder if phones that have screens that don't break might be invented. We also think that video calls will have better quality because sometimes when we call each other it freezes. We wonder how much better communication will be in the future?
Is Change Good?
We think it is good for the world that there are faster ways to communicate. When we had the earthquakes it meant we could let people know we were safe. Communication is important but we hope that people remember to talk to each other too. Sometimes people are mean to each other by sending mean photos or texts or chats to other people. We think this is a bad side of the new devices. It is important to be cyber safe and be kind when you are online (and in real life too).
