Mechanical Weathering Biological Weathering Weathering that creates physical changes; The process of breaking big rocks into little ones.
Roots and plants acting as wedges
Freeze-thaw: Where water freezes inside rocks, expands and pushes it apart.
Temperature causes expanding and contracting, with movement causing rocks to break apart Chemical Weathering Effect of humans, plants and animals on landscape! When moss, fungus, algae (lichen) eat away at rocks There are 3 types of weathering:
*Mechanical
*Chemical
*Biological Types of Weathering When the chemical make-up of the rock is changed
Oxidation - makes rocks softer
Acid
